We’ve selected a few of our favourite books this year for one bumper bundle for one lucky winner. To enter all you have to do is sign up for our newsletter: we promise not to bombard you with information. A winner will be picked at random & the closing date is Sunday 11th December.
Thanks to Route Publishing for The Big Midweek, Steve Hanley’s absolutely brilliant account of life inside The Fall. ‘It’s a voyage of self-discovery, but it doesn’t read as some forced feel-my-pain-confessional or rock biog cliché. Steve is calm, free of hysteria, and avoids self-conscious literary flourishes in favour of the kind of measured, effortless sounding tone that actually takes a lot of thought and effort to achieve’ – Stewart Lee
We’ve really enjoyed hosting two events for Stuart Cosgrove this year. Detroit 67 is the story of Motor City in the year that changed everything. Twelve chapters take you on a turbulent year-long journey through the drama and chaos that ripped through the city in 1967 and tore it apart in personal, political and interracial disputes. It is the story of Motown, the break-up of The Supremes and the damaging disputes at the heart of the most successful African-American music label ever. Thanks to our pals at Birlinn/Polygon.
The perfect companion to our tours Dear Green Sounds: Glasgow’s Music Through Time And Buildings is a collection of memories and stories about the people who have performed in the city, and range from Moore and Burgess Minstrels of the 1880s, to Mario Lanza, Frank Sinatra, Orange Juice, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie to Celtic Connections and visiting bands and orchestras from all over the world. Thanks very much to Waverley Books.
Hot off the press, we’re delighted to include The Great Glasgow Gig Venue Colouring Book from LolaPoloozaDesigns. This A5 colouring book combines pictures of 12 of Glasgow’s most iconic gig venues alongside fascinating facts about each, provided by Glasgow Music City Tours.
We have one copy of Psychocandy by Paula Mejia’s, published by 33 1/3. 33 1/3 is a series of short books about a wide variety of albums, by artists ranging from James Brown to the Beastie Boys. Launched in September 2003, the series now contains 115 titles and is acclaimed and loved by fans, musicians and scholars alike. Thanks to Bloomsbury.
Last, but not least, we will chuck in one of our tote bags and a gift voucher for two people to come on one of our tours when we resume next year, check our calendar for dates!
