Glasgow Jazz Festival 2018: Competition
We’re very excited about the 32nd Glasgow Jazz Festival, the longest-running music event in the city. To celebrate its return we have a competition on our Facebook page to win a pair of tickets to see the fabulous Orchestre Poly-Rythmo at the Old Fruitmarket on Friday 22nd June.
From Wednesday 20th-Sunday 24th June there will be more than 50 events over five full-on days in venues across the city including the Old Fruitmarket, St. Luke’s, Drygate, The Hug and Pint and Glasgow’s brand new dedicated jazz club The Blue Arrow. The Scottish Jazz Awards will take place on 3rd June where a panel of industry experts will choose a shortlist, with a public vote deciding the winner of each category.
Jill Rodger, Festival Director since 2005 said:
“Year on year we endeavour to bring an exciting and varied line-up of big name artists alongside up-and-coming musicians to Glasgow’s audiences. We’re really excited to be announcing this eclectic line-up and we look forward to welcoming jazz fans old and new to some of Glasgow’s most iconic music venues in June.
“We have always endeavoured to celebrate the fantastic female jazz musicians that are part of our ever-evolving jazz scene, so we’re delighted to also announce that we are now part of the Keychange project – a fantastic initiative that will hopefully empower individuals to work together towards a more inclusive music industry.”
We’ll be taking a closer look at the programme over the coming weeks, in the meantime get yourselves over to our FB page to enter the competition. Thanks to Jazz Jill for sorting this!
