Walk To Help Musicians: Glasgow Music Walking Tour Guest Blog
There’s nothing we enjoy more than a good walk, especially around Glasgow’s music venues, past and present. Our friends over at Help Musicians Scotland are taking part in an inventive fund raising initiative this summer, and we’re contributing some gift vouchers for one of our tours as a prize. Thanks to Help Musician’s Fundraising & Volunteer Officer, Étáin Sweeney, for outlining how you can join in and fundraise for this vital charity.
Explore the musical heritage of Glasgow while raising vital money for musicians, by joining a new walking event in aid of Help Musicians.
Help Musicians is a charity that has been working hard to make a meaningful difference to the lives of musicians across the UK for over 100 years. Offering a broad range of help to music creators in times of both crisis and opportunity, we ensure musicians across the UK can achieve their creative potential and sustain a career in music.
To support Help Musicians’ work, we are inviting Scottish music lovers to join the Walk to Help Musicians this summer. Discover Glasgow’s musical landmarks by following our designated walking route.
We have created a downloadable and printable walking map with safe and accessible routes that cover musical landmarks around Glasgow. Each route is between four to five miles long and should take around two hours to complete.
We have also made playlists of songs inspired by each city to help you discover the musical heritage on your doorstep, all while raising money for musicians through sponsorship, personal donations or both.
You can choose to do the walk whenever suits you. You might want to walk alone, or in a group, or to add some stops along the way, it’s up to you!
Covering iconic landmarks from the Pavilion Theatre to King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, you can immerse yourself in Glasgow’s rich musical heritage and get inspired by listening to our curated playlist along the way! Funds can be raised through sponsorship, personal donations, or both.
And better still, the top three fundraisers will win themselves vouchers to join one of the wonderful Glasgow Music City Tours.
