New season tours 2019

Our Saturday tours start again this Saturday, April 20th. We’re looking forward to our new season and catching up with pals from our brilliant working partners at the Britannia Panopticon, the world’s oldest surviving music hall,  King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut ,the CCA and Nice N’ Sleazy.

On Saturday mornings at 11am, walking the oldest streets of Glasgow, our Merchant City Music Past and Present tour tells the story of the veteran venues which have found a new lease of life; the fertile relationship between the city’s visual arts community and its musicians; the legendary pubs frequented by folk music giants, and the newer, noisier upstarts that keep the grassroots scene growing.

On Saturday afternoon our Music Mile tour starts at the Royal Concert Hall ending at King Tut’s via the Conservatoire. The Music Mile tour is a whistle-stop guide around Glasgow city centre, an area teeming with music venues past and present.Hear tales from the heyday of the late, lamented Apollo; check out the home of Celtic Connections and marvel at the many successful bands that started out at King Tut’s.

We’re excited about the launch of our new Trad Trail tour in conjunction with Mharsanta Restaurant: we begin with a 60-minute guided walking tour where we’ll tell stories about Glasgow’s past and present traditional folk culture before heading back to Mharsanta for dinner and live music. Tix here

On Saturday June 1st, our sister operation Edinburgh Music Tours resume, with extra dates across August. Edinburgh Music Tours tell all the tall tales from the People’s Festival Ceilidh to Rollermania and beyond. Covering folk to funk, pop to punk and past to present, our tours trace the people, venues and gigs that made Edinburgh’s music. For our 2019 season, we’ll be ending each tour in one of Edinburgh’s best-loved folk bars.
